![]() Q: How do I start sponsoring a child? A: To get started visit our facebook page to view the photos of children who are available to sponsor. You select the photo of the child(ren) you wish to sponsor. Some choose by age, gender, or the one that grabs their heart. Then email our sponsorship coordinator with the child's name indicating you'd like to be their sponsor. You will have the opportunity to review the policy regarding how sponsorship dollars are used as well as the sponsorship commitment form. Then you will be directed on where to send your signed sponsorship commitment form and how to make your first payment. Q: Can I sponsor a child if I don't attend Cornwall Church? A: Yes. A sponsor does not have to call Cornwall Church their home church, or attend a church at all. Any person or group of people (family, co-workers, small group members etc) with a willingness to sponsor through the Maranatha Sponsorship Program may do so. Q: How much does it cost to sponsor a child? A: The cost of sponsoring a child through Cornwall Church's Maranatha ministry is $35/month. That's less than a dollar a day. Q: How am I billed for my sponsorship commitment? A: As a sponsor, you choose the frequency of when you want to be invoiced. You can choose from three billing plans: $35/monthly, $105/quarter or $420/annually. Q: How do I make my sponsorship payment? A: Sponsors receive an invoice from Cornwall Church when payment is due. Enclosed will be two copies of the invoice and a blue envelope. Sponsors can write a check for the amount due and enclose it with a copy of the invoice and mail it to Cornwall Church using the enclosed blue, pre-addressed envelope. If a sponsor wishes to make their payment on an annual basis, they may choose to pay by check or credit card. A credit card payment form can be requested by contacting Cornwall Church's accounting department at (360) 733-2150. Q: How long is a sponsorship commitment? A: Your choice to sponsor a child through Maranatha's Sponsorship Program is a personal decision. There are no set terms for sponsorship. You choose the duration of time that works for you. When you discontinue your sponsorship, the child will be re-listed as available to sponsor. Q: Do I get to choose the person I sponsor? A: Yes. You may choose to sponsor a person from the list of available children. You can make your selection by photo, age or gender. Q: Can I visit the person I sponsor? A: Yes. For information about being part of a mission team from Cornwall Church contact the missions director by clicking here. Q: Can I send letters to the person I sponsor? A: Yes! We strongly encourage you to write to the person you sponsor. Along with your letter you may include a photo of you and/or your family. These letters and photos mean so much to them. Letters and photos can be sent with Maranatha representatives on any trip. An annual request for letters is coordinated annually-- typically in the fall. These letters are translated into French/Creole and then sent down with the Oct/Nov mission team. Letter writing tip: We invite you to write to your child/staff member at any time. Please keep your letters simple and encouraging. Q: Will I receive a letter from the person I sponsor? A: Although you are encouraged to write to your child and your letter will be received with great joy, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that you will receive a letter in return. Q: Can I send a gift with my letter? A: Only letters and photos can be accepted and delivered to the recipient. Q: What amount of administrative overhead does this ministry have? A: 100% of all funds donated through Cornwall Church's Maranatha's Sponsorship Program are pooled and distributed to provide food, water, healthcare, clothing, shoes, education and program needs, both physical and spiritual, for the ministries at Maranatha's orphanages, school, and church, and in the communities falling within Maranatha's sphere of influence. Each child, teacher, worker or administrator sponsored through the program will continue to be a direct recipient of the support provided. The funds will be prayerfully distributed as deemed appropriate by the Haitian leadership and by Cornwall's Maranatha Board of Directors. |
Show You Care Many children living in poverty feel hopeless or worthless and unloved. As a sponsor, you are linked with one particular child who knows your name and treasures the thought that you care.
These children care about you and pray for you by name. Your letters, photos and prayers will do more for your sponsored child than you can possibly imagine. Help Provide the Essentials The Maranatha Sponsorship Program is the sole source of funding for Maranatha's school in Pont Sonde, one of the many very impoverished villages in Haiti. This is the only means of making school available to the many children who would otherwise not be able to attend. In sponsorship, a child is given what is usually his or her only meal for the day, as well as a glimmer of hope and joy. The entire support of the school program depends on child sponsors who pledge sponsorship dollars per month to a fund that provides for the school's needs—funds are pooled and distributed to provide food, water, health care, clothing, shoes, education and program needs, enabling them to receive an education as well as one hot meal per school day. Because of the extreme poverty in Haiti, and because there is no “free” education, most parents cannot afford to send their children to school. The opportunity to attend school is life changing for these children.
Maranatha Ministies The sponsorship program provides funds to meet the needs of the children and staff at the Maranatha Orphanage in Terre Noire, Haiti, as well as the needs of many living in the communities surrounding Maranatha. The villages of Terre Noire, Pont Sonde, Model, Bertrand and Timonet and the city of St. Marc are just some of the communities impacted by Maranatha's ministries. Cornwall's goals, in support of Maranatha's leaders and their ministry in the Maranatha community are two-fold: 1) to meet the immediate physical needs of the children and adults in the area 2) to provide long-term help and hope for the community through spiritual training, education, increased opportunities, and general improvements in the villages.
The Maranatha Sponsorship Policy: All funds donated through the Cornwall Church Maranath Sponsorship Program shall be pooled and distributed to provide food, water, health care, clothing, shoes, education and program needs, both physical and spiritual, for the ministries at Maranatha's orphanages, school, and church, and the in the communities falling within Maranatha's sphere of influence. The funds will be prayerfully distributed as deemed appropriate by the Haitian leadership and by Cornwall's Maranatha Board of Directors. Financial Gift If you would like to make a one-time donation to the Maranatha ministry you may write a check payable to Cornwall Church. In the memo section write "Maranatha." Your financial gift will go toward other ministry needs such as facility maintenance & improvements, sustainable development, scholarships for higher education, or other needs that sponsorship dollars do not fund. Please mail your gift to: Cornwall Church Maranatha Ministry 4518 Northwest Dr. Bellingham, WA 98226 |
